John has been with Cornelius Police Department since 1995, first as a part timer and then coming to the police department full time in 1997.  John has seen the department grow from a small town into a city of progressive law enforcement and communications.  John has been in emergency communications since 1994. 

 

John graduated from Campbell University with a BS degree in Business Administration.  John was in corporate purchasing and plant management prior to having a triple bypass which lead him to his first love of emergency services dispatching.  John is retired from Troutman Fire & Rescue after 22 years.  John has Certifications in NC Sheriff's Association, NC Dept of Criminal Information, National Emergency Number Association, and has previously been the training officer for Cornelius Police Department.  He is currently Assistant TAC with the agency, doing testing for officers and Telecommunicators for state certification.

 

John is married with a grown son living in Cornelius and has hobbies which include storm chasing each year, selling wind and weather instruments on EBay, police scanners, computers and digital photography.  John has also assisted many residents in programming their personal scanners and is available to assist any resident.
